Greta Thunberg Detained: A support boat left for Gaza was stopped by the Israeli army in the sea in the early hours of Monday. The boat was riding 12 international activists, including Sweden environmental activist Gita Thangberg and France’s Member of European Parliament Reema Hasan.
The boat was running under the British flag and it was sent by an organization called Freedom Flotila Coolishan to provide humanitarian help in Gaza. The boat started the journey from Sicily, Italy on 6 June and was scheduled to reach Gaza on Monday. But the Israeli army stopped it in the international maritime sector at around 2 am and took all the people into custody.

Giving information about this on social media, French MP Reema Hasan said that all 12 people have been arrested by the Israeli army. Israel has described this mission as “media promotion”. The Israeli Foreign Ministry said that it was just a “selfie yacht” and the help that was being brought was very limited, such as rice and milk powder for children. The ministry claimed that the workers themselves ate a part of the help brought in it and Israel will now send Gaza to the rest through it.
What did the Freedom Flotilla Organization say?
The Freedom Floral Sangathan says that it wants to draw the attention of the world towards the ongoing human crisis in Gaza. Israel has put a naval blockade on Gaza for many years, which the organization considers “collective punishment”. However, Israel says that in the last two weeks, he has sent help in Gaza through more than 1200 trucks and about 1.1 crore food has been distributed there.
Last month, a boat was attacked by a drone
Earlier, last month, this organization had tried to send help to the sea through the sea, but then one of their boats was attacked, which damaged the boat. The organization blamed Israel for that attack.
It is worth noting that since 2007, after Hamas’s control over Gaza, Israel and Egypt have put strict blockade there. Critics say that this has affected the lives of about 20 lakh people there and it is not less than any punishment.
