After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the strict reply India responded to Pakistan. Meanwhile, the ceasefire between India and Pakistan has come into force from 5 pm on Saturday evening. A major role behind this consent between the two countries has been of the DGMO of the Indian Army i.e. Director General of Military Operations. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that Pakistani DGMO had called and agreed to the ceasefire.
Who is DGMO and what does it do?
DGMO in the Indian Army is a senior lieutenant general, who is an officer of a 3-star rank. Its main task is to land the country’s defense policy on the ground. The DGMO directly reports to the Army Chief and also works as a synergy between the Army, the Navy and the Air Force.
Their responsibilities include strategy for war, campaigning against terrorism, monitoring peace mission and handling tension on LoC. During the ‘Operation Sindoor’ against Pakistan, DGMO also played a big role in bringing the atmosphere under control by talking to Pakistani DGMO.

What is the salary of DGMO?
The salary of DGMO is also as big as their responsibilities. According to the 7th Pay Commission, the basic salary of the Lieutenant General ranges from 1,82,200 to 2,24,100. Apart from this, on adding military service pay, DA and other allowances, their total salary reaches 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh per month. Along with this, they are also given many facilities like government accommodation, medical facility and vehicle.
