Dharmendra Deol: Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after complaining of difficulty in breathing. 89 year old Dharmendra has been under the strict supervision of doctors for the last few days and is currently admitted in the ICU. Condition stable, but under observation
According to reports, Dharmendra initially reached the hospital for a routine checkup, but the doctors decided to admit him after examination. A staff member of Breach Candy Hospital told the media that “Dharmendra ji had come complaining of breathlessness. Right now he is in the ICU and resting.” When asked about his health, the hospital representative said that there is nothing to worry about at the moment. They are stable. His heart rate is 70, blood pressure is 140/80 and urine output is also normal.
Doctors have advised to keep him under observation for a few more days. Meanwhile, his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol are present with their father after taking some time out from their work. Dharmendra is going to turn 90 in December and in recent years he has had to face some health problems.
How serious is the problem of breathlessness?
At the age of 89, the lungs and heart of the body are not as strong as before, so even a little fatigue or lack of oxygen can cause breathlessness. Many times this happens when water gets stagnant in the body, there is a mild infection in the lungs or the heartbeat does not work properly. Generally, if an elderly person feels short of breath for a while only due to fatigue or change in weather, then it is not very dangerous. But when difficulty in breathing starts suddenly or repeatedly, it can indicate a serious disease related to the heart, lungs or blood circulation.
Surgery was done a few months ago
Dharmendra had cataract surgery in April this year, after which he recovered quickly. Even at this stage of age, he keeps himself active not only in his personal life but also professionally. Talking about the work front, Dharmendra was recently seen in the film Teri Baton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024), in which Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon played the lead roles. Now he will be seen in Sriram Raghavan’s film Ikkis. It is a war drama based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetrapal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra winner. Agastya Nanda, Simar Bhatia, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher will also be seen in important roles in the film. The film is scheduled to release in December 2025.
