According to the DNA report, Dharmendra once allegedly revealed that he was so fascinated by Suraiya that he had seen his film Dillagi 40 times. Dharmendra shared that he used to travel from one place to another to get a chance to watch his films. Dharmendra was stuck on Suraiya’s on-screen presence.
Born in June 1929, Suraiya was born in a Muslim family in Punjab. Her pairing with Dev Anand was highly appreciated, besides being a brilliant actress, Suraiya was also known as a playback singer. In his career, Suraiya acted in more than 70 films and sang 338 songs.

Suraiya was in a relationship with actor Dev Anand for four years from 1948 to 1951. Both also decided to get married, however, their family never let them move forward. Suraiya remained unmarried throughout her own free will. Suraiya, who is considered one of the best and greatest actresses in the history of Indian cinema, retired from her acting career in 1963. In January 2004, at the age of 75, he died at Harkishandas Hospital in Mumbai due to many health problems. Dharmendra, who was a very big fan of Suraiya, attended his funeral.
