Dharmendra died in November, a few days before his 90th birthday. After his father’s demise, Deol talked about his deep emotional connection to the ‘Border’ franchise and how Dharmendra’s work inspired him to start working on the sequel.

Acknowledging the influence of his father’s war film ‘Haqeeqat’ on his cinematic journey, he had said in a statement given to BSF jawans, “I did Border because when I saw my father’s film ‘Haqeeqat’, I liked it very much. I was a child then. So, when I became an actor, I decided to make a film similar to my father’s film.” He further said, “I spoke to J.P. Dutta, and we decided to make a film on the Longewala subject, which is very close to our hearts and resides in the hearts of all of you.”

The actor also talked about the impact the war film had on the audience, especially its young audience, and said that he never thought that it would inspire people to join the armed forces. Deol said, “Wherever I go, I didn’t know that we would give so much confidence to so many youth that they would decide to join the armed forces. Whenever I meet them, they tell me that after watching my film, they decided to join the army.”

‘Border 2’ Box Office Prediction
Releasing just in time for the Republic Day long weekend, ‘Border 2’ has already taken a good start at the box office, the film has earned around Rs 5 crore from the morning shows alone as per data from Sacknilk. With the benefit of the national holiday, the film is expected to score big on the opening weekend, however, it remains to be seen whether it will surpass the Rs 40 crore opening day collection of Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’. Whether it can break the record of earning or not.
