Late veteran Dharmendra is no more with us, but his last film ‘Ikkis’, which released on January 1, is very special for the audience. This is also the first film of Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda. Choreographer Vijay Ganguly told that Dharmendra was desperate to learn dance steps even at 3 in the morning while it was difficult for him to even stand properly.
Courage shown in Qawwali sequence
While talking to ‘Pinkvilla’, famous choreographer Vijay Ganguly said that Dharmendra had trouble even standing due to age related problems. Seeing his health issue, he was asked to take rest mostly. But he was dedicated to his work. He showed courage for the Qawwali sequence being shot early in the morning and performed some dance steps with full dedication.
Choreographer Vijay Ganguly told that one of the scenes in the film was meant to show the actor’s college reunion, which was shot at around 3 in the morning. The team had asked him to do only light movements but Dharmendra was excited to see what other young actors were doing in the sequence.
Dharmendra ignored the team’s advice
Choreographer Vijay Ganguly told that Dharmendra found it difficult to get up again and again, hence he remained sitting most of the time. Due to health reasons, the team had asked him (Dharmendra) to rest and enjoy music but he did not give up his determination to give his best.
Whereas we told him (Dharmendra) that the rest of the actors were doing steps with their feet. Hearing this he asked, ‘Why can’t I do this?’ And when his turn came, he got up and did his steps with full enthusiasm. The team later stopped him but he continued to ignore and continue his dance.
