The film Dhurandhar was embroiled in controversy even before its release, when YouTuber Dhruv Rathi compared it to a terrorist organization like ISIS. But after release the story changed, the film performed tremendously at the box office and collected more than Rs 800 crore in a few days. After this, Dhruv Rathi called the film “Propaganda” and claimed to expose it through a YouTube video.
The post was released on December 20 and the video was released the same night, in which he accused director Aditya Dhar, the film and the government. However, the video received negative response from the audience and trolling started in the comments section. After the viral comments, allegations were made that thousands of deleted comments were made and commenting was limited to only old subscribers, which was confirmed by Dhruv Rathi himself.
The interesting thing was that despite the controversy, the film’s earnings increased further and there was a jump in the collection on the day of the video and the next day. Overall, the controversy did not hamper the film’s box office performance.
