A shocking case of online cheating with film director and writer Sanjay Chhel has come to light. According to the information, the thugs made an excuse for fake RTO challan and took around Rs 99,989 from them. After this incident, Sanjay Chhel lodged a complaint with the police, after which the Amboli police registered a case and started investigation.

Sanjay was a victim of online fraud

According to the Mumbai Police, the incident took place on July 4, when Sanjay Chel was in his home Kherwadi Society, Char Bungalow, Andheri. During this, he received calls and messages from two different mobile numbers. The callers described themselves as an officer of the RTO department and said that a new traffic invoice has been issued in his name. The thugs sent a link related to the challan and pressurized them to fill the information immediately. In fear and confusion, Sanjay Chhel filled the information in the link on the mobile. After this, 99,989 rupees were transferred from his bank account to the account of thugs.

Checking of mobile number and bank accounts continues

In this case, an FIR has been registered at Amboli police station on 29 August 2025 on the complaint of Sanjay Chhel. This case has been registered under Section 318 (4) of the Indian Code and Section 66 (a) and 66 (D) of the IT Act. Amboli police said that the help of cyber cell is being taken in view of the seriousness of the case. At present, the police is collecting information about the mobile numbers and bank accounts from which they were cheated so that the accused can be identified and they can be arrested.

Sanjay’s film career

Talking about Sanjay’s film career, he started in 1993 with Ashutosh Gowariker’s film first intoxication in the film industry, but the film could not succeed at the box office. A few years later, he along with Neeraj Vora wrote the dialogue of the hit film Rangeela (1995). He then worked as a writer for many films, including Kutcha Dhagh (1999), Stir Dil Hai Hindustani (2000), Partner (2007) and Kismet Connection (2008).

Step as director

In 1999, Sanjay stepped as a director and made the film beautiful, which proved to be a hit at the box office, but his next film Kya Dil Ne (2002) flopped at the box office.
