American official John Kiriakou said, ‘We asked him to come down the mountain, then he asked us through a translator, can you give us time till morning? We want to evacuate our women and children safely and then come down and surrender. But what happened after this was that Bin Laden dressed in women’s clothes and took advantage of the darkness of the night and fled to Pakistan in the back of a pickup truck.

He said, ‘After the morning, when the American army came to know that Bin Laden and other terrorists had escaped from Tora Bora mountain, after this the American army launched its operation in Pakistan.’
