CRS Mark: In today’s era, mobile, charger, earphone, power bank and other electronic gadgets have become our daily needs. Seeing cheap offers or low prices at local shops, many people buy these goods without thinking much. But if you do not pay attention to the CRS mark while purchasing, then this small carelessness can cause big problems.
What is CRS mark?
CRS stands for Compulsory Registration Scheme. This scheme has been implemented by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Under this, many electronic products like mobile phone, charger, power bank, TV, laptop are required to meet the safety standards. Only when a product passes these tests, it gets CRS registration and the recognized mark of BIS.
Why is CRS mark important?
The CRS mark assures that the product has been manufactured as per the prescribed safety standards. Electronic items without this mark have a higher risk of incidents like short circuit, overheating, battery explosion or electrocution. Especially if products like charger and power bank are of poor quality, then they can become a risk to your mobile as well as your life.
What harm can a product without CRS mark cause?
If you use a mobile or charger without CRS mark, it can damage the phone quickly, reduce the battery life and can also lead to incidents like sudden fire. In many cases, there have been reports of houses catching fire due to fake chargers. Apart from this, there is no reliable warranty or proper complaint option available on such products.
How to identify CRS mark?
BIS logo and CRS registration number is written on the back of the box or device of any electronic product. If you want, you can also check this number by visiting the official website of BIS. Even while shopping online, make sure to check the mention of CRS or BIS certification in the product description.
Take these precautions while buying
Always buy electronic goods from branded and trusted shops only. Don’t take a decision immediately after seeing a very cheap price. Before buying a mobile, charger or any electronic device, definitely check whether CRS mark is present on it or not.
