Indian National Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijay Singh retired from the House today. In his farewell speech, he appealed to everyone for harmony while mentioning the then Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. During this, he also told his future plan through gestures.
He said that – I remember the words of Atal Bihari Vajpayee – ‘Main na thaka hoon, na retiyan hoon. (Neither I am tired, nor retired)’. We will do more work in future.
It is believed that Digvijay Singh will now work hard for the party for the 2028 assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh. His son Jaivardhan Singh is also an MLA from Raghogarh assembly constituency.
I always tried to follow the path of ideology – Digvijay Singh
Earlier, Digvijay Singh said that people will be surprised that I never had any contact or support from politics during my student life. Circumstances became such that I became the Municipality President at the age of 22. He was unanimously elected MLA at the age of 30, became a state minister at the age of 33, became an MP and became the Chief Minister at the age of 40.
The Congress leader said that but I have always tried to follow the path of my ideology. I never compromised with my ideology. I have never harbored bitterness towards anyone in my political career. There were differences of opinion, and it is natural to have differences of opinion, but I never gave any opportunity to differences of opinion.
The former CM of Madhya Pradesh said that even today I want to make the same request to you. It is possible that there may have been some bitterness in my speech at times and someone may have felt bad, for that I apologize. But I definitely want to assure you that whether it is Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Lok Sabha or this House – my relations have always been good even with those people whose ideology I did not agree with, neither do I nor will I ever. As far as our comrades are concerned, there may be some differences regarding the conduct of work, but I have always supported their ideology in favor of the poor.

He said that it has been my good fortune that I have been a member of that Lok Sabha, in which leaders like Atal Bihar Vajpayee (then Prime Minister) and Rajiv Gandhi (then Prime Minister) were there. Indira Gandhi (then Prime Minister) got me admitted into Congress and Chandrashekhar (then Prime Minister) was also in Parliament at that time. I have decided on my political journey only after being influenced by all these great leaders. I have never been in favor of disruptions in the House. The foundation of democracy is discussion, and it is the responsibility of the ruling party in the House to dialogue with the opposition and find a solution.
Digvijay Singh said that Ansari Saheb (former Vice President Hamid Ansari) has been the President of this House. He never allowed any bill to be passed without adequate discussion. The way out is always through dialogue, can and should be found. This is the basic spirit of democracy, in which something seems lacking today.

The MP said that I also want to tell you that the way communal bitterness and discord is increasing in the country today, it is not appropriate for the country. This is neither in accordance with our values and culture, nor with democracy, nor with the spirit of the Indian Constitution. I have decided my own path in my political career and for this I am grateful to the Congress Party, which has given me the opportunity to serve in every House.
He said that today on this occasion I express my gratitude to all those members who said good words about me. I assure that in my political career, I will continue to work with the same spirit as Kabir has said – ‘Kabira stands in the market, sabki maange khair, neither friendship with anyone, nor enmity with anyone.’
