Director General of Shipping on Pakistan: After the Pahalgam terror attack, India has banned importing anything from Pakistan. After this, India has taken another big decision giving a shock to Pakistan. Director General of Shipping has issued an order that no Pakistani flag ship will be allowed to enter any Indian port. In this order, it has been directed to Indian Ships, saying that no Indian flag ship will go to any port of Pakistan from now on.
Instructions issued under Merchant Shipping Act, 1958
During the interaction with ABP News, Anirudh Chakk, the head of the International Co-ordination Branch, who headed the International Co-ordination Branch, said, “We have issued such an order under Section 411 (including proclamation) of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.” The mill said, “This order has been sent to every port in the country, so that it can be followed immediately. This order has been issued in the interest of public interest and Indian shipping to ensure the security of Indian properties, cargo and connected infrastructure.”
He said, “This order can be provided by consulting any type of exemption or concession on the basis of specific cases. This order will be applicable with immediate effect and will be effective until further orders.
He added, “The purpose of the Act is to promote the development of the Indian business maritime sector and ensure efficient maintenance in the most appropriate way to serve national interests. The said Act is related to Indian flag ships, wherever they are and exotic flag ships are in the Indian water sector to ensure the safety of life and safety of ships in the sea.”
Section 411 of the Act gives the right to issue instructions to ships in the national interest
He said, “Section 411 empowers the Director General of Shipping, Government of India, to issue instructions to ships to fulfill the objective of national interest or interest of Indian shipping. Therefore, instructions have been issued keeping in mind the current status with the objectives contained in the proposal of the Act with power conferred by Section 411 of Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.”
