There is a lot of rhetoric in the state on the prohibition law implemented in Bihar. A picture of discord is visible within the NDA itself. After Rashtriya Lok Morcha and Jitan Ram Manjhi, politics has intensified after the statement given by BJP MLA Vinay Bihari on prohibition. Nitish Kumar’s party JDU has once again given a clear cut answer.
In fact, on Sunday (February 22, 2026), BJP MLA Vinay Bihari has said that prohibition should be implemented properly otherwise it should be restored to what it was before. On this, JDU spokesperson Abhishek Jha said that following the thoughts of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has implemented the liquor ban law in Bihar, showing a strong resolve. It is reviewed from time to time, but in the context of review, the talk of relaxing it, giving relaxation or abolishing it is completely dishonest. This is absolutely not possible.
Abhishek Jha said that everyone’s suggestions are welcome. Now who gives what statement, that (Vinay Bihari) is a personal matter. There is no point in commenting on it.
‘The decision to ban liquor is in the interest of society’
On Vinay Bihari’s statement regarding the liquor ban law, Bihar BJP spokesperson Prabhakar Mishra said, “The concerns expressed by Vinay Bihari ji are pointing towards the challenges at the grassroots level, but the decision of liquor ban in Bihar is a historic decision taken in the interest of the society. This decision taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has saved the homes of lakhs of families from being destroyed. Women have got security and respect. BJP has a clear opinion that the liquor ban law will remain in force. More on this The government is committed to making it effective.”
Prabhakar Mishra said that wherever illegal business is taking place, strict action is being taken. More stringent steps will be taken in this regard. There is scope for improvement in every policy, but this does not mean that we should end social reforms. Our goal is alcohol free, safe and prosperous Bihar.
