Recently, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar had said that he does not have any update regarding Shami. When Shami was asked a question in this regard, he said, “My job is only to go to NCA, practice and play matches. Selection is not in my hands. Mohammed Shami is currently playing for Bengal in Ranji Trophy. In the first round Ranji Trophy match against Uttarakhand, he took 3 wickets for just 37 runs in 14.5 overs. In this he also bowled 4 maiden overs. In the Bengal vs Uttarakhand match, he bowled 15 overs and gave only 21 runs till stumps on the third day. Shami has bowled about 30 overs in this match and somewhere he has proved his fitness.
