The name of Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu has become a symbol of respect and success in the Indian tech industry. But recently his discussion has come not about his company but about his personal life and divorce. An American court has ordered Sridhar Vembu to deposit a bond of $ 1.7 billion i.e. approximately Rs 15,000 crore. This could be one of the most expensive divorce cases in the history of India.
This case is going on in California, America. Sridhar Vembu’s estranged wife Pramila Srinivasan filed a divorce petition in the court in November 2024. His allegation was that after the divorce process started, Sridhar Vembu transferred the property and assets related to Zoho without transparency. The court ordered in January 2025 that such transactions are a violation of the temporary restraining order. For this reason, the judge directed Vembu to deposit a heavy bond so that there is no danger of the assets being taken out of America or hidden.
