On the occasion of Diwali, Delhi Metro has announced changes in its operating timings keeping in mind the convenience of passengers. In view of the festival crowd and security arrangements, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has appealed to the people to plan their journey in advance and take special care of the time. On this festival of Diyas in Delhi, the schedule of metro services is going to be slightly different from the usual days, so that the journey remains smooth and safe.
There will be change in Delhi Metro timings on the eve of Diwali
Actually, according to the update released by Delhi Metro, on Sunday 19 October 2025, i.e. the eve of Diwali, metro services on Pink, Magenta and Gray lines will start from 6 am instead of the usual 7 am. This has been done so that the passengers going to markets, temples and their homes in the early morning before the festival can get additional convenience. At the same time, on Monday 20 October 2025, the day of Diwali, the last metro on all lines will leave from the terminal stations at 10 pm.

Like normal days, services will not run till 11 pm. This change will also be applicable on the Airport Express Line. However, metro trains will run on their normal timings throughout the day. Only the timing of the last metro has been advanced by one hour.

DMRC has also clarified that keeping in mind the security arrangements and crowd on the day of Diwali, additional staff and patrolling teams will be deployed at the stations. Also, passengers have been requested not to make unnecessary crowd on the festival day and decide their travel time in advance. Delhi Metro wrote in a post shared on social media… “Plan your journey in advance on festival days and keep in mind the time.” On this occasion of Diwali, Delhi Metro services may be closed a little earlier, but arrangements have been made such that every passenger can reach his destination safely and comfortably.
