Diwali sweets: As soon as the festival of Diwali arrives, sweets start getting stocked in the house. It adds sweetness to the festival. But during this sweetness, we often make a mistake that we keep them thinking that we have to eat them tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Whereas we should try to avoid such things. The shelf life of every sweet is different. That is, for how many days does it remain fresh and after how many days can eating it be harmful to health. A type of sweet

The first name that comes in this is that of laddu. This is one of the most liked sweets in India. In this, gram flour laddus, boondi laddus and semolina laddus are usually made and their shelf life also depends on what they are made from. As gram flour laddus contain high amount of ghee and sugar, hence they remain good for about 10-12 days, provided they are kept in an airtight container. Whereas Boondi laddus are a little delicate and contain more moisture. Therefore, they remain edible only for about 4 to 5 days.

Barfi

Diwali is becoming such a festival that if you give some other sweet to your relatives or neighbors instead of barfi, they will be shocked. There are many types of barfi like cashew barfi, coconut barfi, milk barfi. Their shelf life varies, for example, if Kaju Katli is kept in the refrigerator, it can last for 7 to 10 days. Coconut spoils quickly, coconut barfi remains fresh only for 3 to 4 days. Barfi made from milk has a short shelf life and does not last more than 2 to 3 days.

Gulab Jamun has its own craze, but its shelf life is very short. It is kept dipped in sweet syrup. Therefore, at room temperature it remains edible for only 1 to 2 days, whereas if kept in the refrigerator, it can be eaten for 4 to 5 days.

Kalakand and Rasgulla

Kalakand is made from milk and khoya, due to which it spoils quickly. If you keep it at normal temperature, it remains edible for only 1 to 2 days. Even if kept in the refrigerator, it remains good for maximum 3 to 4 days. If we talk about Rasgullas, they remain good for only 1 day at room temperature and their shelf life can be 3 to 4 days when kept in the refrigerator.

Jalebi

You get to eat a lot of Jalebi on Diwali. During this time you get to see another version of it, which is known as Imarti. Jalebi remains completely fresh for one day and after that its taste and crispness gets spoiled.

How to keep it fresh?

If you want to preserve them for a longer period, then always keep the sweets in an airtight container. Store sweets containing milk and syrup in the refrigerator. Along with this, if there is more moisture in the sweets then try to eat it within 1 to 2 days. Whereas if you buy from a good store or order it online, it contains information about its shelf life, you should finish it before the expiry date.
