For this, clear rules have been given in the National Flag Code.
Take these precautions while descending the tricolor

2. Never let the flag touch the ground or water
3. After removing it instead of leaving it dirty or folded, bend it well
The right way to fold the tricolor
1. To fold the tricolor, first of all keep the flag hoargental

Punishment for breaking the rules
If a person deliberately insults the tricolor, tear or burn him publicly, then it is a crime under the Prevention of Insult to Nation Honor Act 1971. For this, there can be sentence up to 3 years, fine or both.

The Ministry of Culture has appealed to the people to take care of its honor not only on August 15 and 26, but also after hoisting and unloading the flag. The tricolor is the pride and glory of our country, so it is the duty of every Indian to maintain its respect.
