Allahabad High Court has ordered the officials not to interfere in the prayers in the mosque of Badaun. The High Court directed the Badaun officials not to interfere in the prayers being offered in the mosque located inside private property. The petition was filed by petitioners Alisher and ‘Waqf Masjid Raza’.
In this petition, the petitioner had demanded from the Allahabad High Court to issue such an order or instruction in which the respondents should be instructed not to stop the petitioner from offering Namaz in the mosque.
The petitioners’ lawyer cited a January decision
The lawyer appearing in the court on behalf of the petitioners cited a decision of the Division Bench dated January 27, 2026. In this case, the Division Bench of the High Court had clearly said that there is no restriction in law on the petitioners organizing religious prayer meetings inside their private premises. The division bench of Justice Shekhar B Saraf and Justice Vivek Saran passed this order.
