What is the root of cancer
Scientists had been doubting for a long time that HGSC begins not actually in the ovaries, but in the fallopian tube. But where and how exactly, it was not clean. But research by Dr. Alexander Nikitin of Cornell University revealed that a particular type of cell of fallopian tube, pre-cyliened tubal epithelial cells, makes the real start of this cancer. These cells are the transition stage between stem cells and a fully developed ciliated cell.
Cancer is caused by pre-cylinder cells
Earlier it was believed that stem cells are responsible for this cancer. But in this research, scientists found that when two important genes that prevent cancer, TP53 and RB1 were locked in stem cells, they did not become cancerous, but died. Conversely, when these genes were closed in pre-cylindered cells, cancer started to form.
Successful experiment on mice
Scientists, using gene editing techniques, have silenced these genes in individual cells of the fallopian tube of mice. The result was clear, cancer developed only in pre-cylindered cells.
What is the new key to identifying cancer
Research also revealed that a gene named KRT5 is quite active in pre-cylinder sales. When TRP53 and RB1 were closed in high levels of this genes, high-grade ovary cancer in mice quickly developed. It became clear that these sales are the root of cancer.

This study is on mice, but the structure of the fallopian tube of humans is quite similar. This discovery can be strengthened by further research on human tissue. If these results are also proved in humans, then it can be a big win in the war against ovary cancer.
