Nowadays coloring hair has become common. Now it has gradually become a part of people’s lifestyle. This fashion is increasing rapidly especially among the youth. Some people want to look like their favorite celebrity by getting their hair colored, while others just want to bring a little change in their look. However, according to many experts, frequent coloring of hair also affects our kidneys. Many cases have also come to light regarding this. In such a situation, today we will tell you whether coloring hair really causes kidney damage and what doctors say about it.
Girl’s kidney damaged due to hair coloring in China
A case of kidney damage due to hair color has recently come to light from China. In fact, a 20-year-old girl in China used to get her hair dyed every month to look like her favorite celebrity. Initially it was just a fashion trend, but gradually its dangerous effects started becoming visible. After some time, red spots appeared on the girl’s legs, she started having pain in her joints and felt stiffness in her stomach. After this, when she reached the hospital, the doctors told that her kidneys were swollen. According to doctors, the girl’s condition was caused by continuous hair dyeing. Actually, according to the doctor, some poisonous chemicals are found in most hair dyes which can accumulate in the body for a long time and cause harm to the kidneys, lungs and liver. Not only this, repeated use of these chemicals can also increase the risk of cancer.
Hair color also causes kidney failure problem
According to doctors, chemicals like propylene glycol and resorcinol are present in many hair colors. These chemicals dissolve in our body through hair color and affect blood circulation and kidney functioning. Excessive amount of propylene glycol thickens the fluid in our body, which can cause swelling in the kidney veins. Excessive use of resorcinol can cause hormonal imbalance and kidney failure.
How to protect kidneys?
To prevent kidney problems caused by hair colour, doctors advise that one should avoid coloring the hair frequently. A patch test should always be done before coloring the hair. In the patch test, color is first applied on a small part of the hair and it is seen whether any reaction occurs. Apart from this, if it is necessary to color the hair, then choose such products which do not contain dangerous chemicals. Apart from this, doctors advise to always use only herbal or organic dyes for coloring hair. Also try to wear gloves while applying hair color.
