Donald Trump is Angry Over Canada Imposition of Digital Service Tax on Us Tech Companies

Trump tarif on canada: US President Donald Trump has said that the US will immediately shut down trade talks with Canada. Not only this, Trump has also talked about putting a new tariff on Canada next month.

Referring to the digital service tax being imposed on American companies on American companies in a post on Truth Social, he said that this is a ‘clear’ and ‘direct’ attack on America. With this, Trump said that within seven days we will tell Canada about the tariff to be paid to trade with the US.

What is Canada’s digital service tax?

Let us know that on June 30, 2025, the Government of Canada announced a digital service tax on big technical companies. In the same way, the government here will levy taxes on the users connecting online with companies, which can go up to three percent. That is, the digital service given to Canadian users will be taxed on the revenue to the company.

Now it is obvious that it will affect American companies because there are many American companies like Google, which are available in Canada on a large scale online advertisements. In clear terms, the company will now be taxed on the revenue to be done in lieu of online service or digital content. On this, the Canadian government has argued that if foreign companies earn from people in Canada, then Canada also has the right to tax them.

Trump said this on tariff deadline

Here, the deadline of the tariff imposed by US President Donald Trump ends on July 9. However, he has said that there is no deadline of tariff on 9 July.

Addressing a press conference at the White House, Trump said, “We can do whatever we want. We can increase it, reduce it. I want to reduce it. I want to send a letter to everyone that congratulations, you are paying 25 percent tariffs. After this it was postponed for 90 days.
