Xi Jinping’s first response to tariff
Trump’s statement came at a time when the US dollar has fallen drastically and it reached a three -year low compared to the Euro. On Trump’s tariff policy, Chinese President Xi Jinping said, “China and Europe should fulfill their international responsibilities and oppose the unilateral threatening policies of America.”
Tariff war broke out in China-America
China retaliated against the continuous increase in tariffs by the Trump administration. China also increased the tariff to 125 on imports of American products to 125 on Friday. Earlier, the US had announced to increase the duty on products imported from China to 145 percent. However, China has also shown interest in interacting with the US administration to remove the trade war on the custom commission.
Announcing an additional 125 per cent duty on US imports, China’s Customs Commission said, “If America imposes even more duty, it will not have any economy and finally it will be recorded as a joke in world economic history.” China said that if America is engaged in weakening our interests, then China will take strict retaliation and fight till the last. China’s Ministry of Commerce has also filed a case against the US in the World Trade Organization (WTO).
