A double decker bus overturned in Lucknow on Monday (23 February). In this accident, 5 people died and 16 people were injured. It is being told that the driver dozed off due to which this major accident happened. This double decker bus was going from Ludhiana to Darbhanga. An accident took place on Purvanchal Expressway of Gosaiganj police station. The injured have been admitted to the Trauma Center of KGMU for treatment. The seriously injured were taken to the Trauma Center through a green corridor.
The bus was lifted by crane
There was chaos on the spot after the accident. The bus was lifted by a crane and an ambulance was called on the spot. People present nearby came forward to help the injured. Police team reached the spot.
The driver was drunk – Passenger
One person said, “I boarded a bus from Sonipat to go to Araria. The driver was drunk. A liquor bottle was also found. My back was injured. The police team immediately reached the spot. We evacuated half of the people from the bus after the accident.” Another person said, “Some people are not worthy of being saved. The bus started wavering and overturned after five minutes.” The bus was badly damaged in the accident.
On the accident, the police said that a woman, a man and three children died tragically in this accident. The condition of the injured is said to be stable. Orders for further action have been given.

Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant said that our first priority is the treatment of the injured. Our effort is to minimize the loss of life and property. Seriously injured people have been referred. All people are critical.
