In the 17th match of the second edition of the Delhi Premier League, East Delhi Riders defeated West Delhi Lions by 2 runs in a thrilling match. After 19 overs chasing the target of 159 runs, West Delhi’s score was 152/5, 7 runs were needed to win in the last over. Mayank Gusain and Naman Tiwari were at the crease, Nitish Rana gave the last over in the hands of Ashish Meena.

Ashish Meena caught Mayank out of the first ball at the hands of Arpit Rana. After this, gave 1-1 runs on the second and third balls, the fourth ball was run out on the dot and the fifth ball. On the last ball, 4 runs were needed for the draw, but Bhagwan Singh could take 2 runs on it and thus East Delhi Riders won by 2 runs in an exciting match.

Earlier, chasing 159 runs, the openers of West Delhi Lions had given explosive start. Krish Yadav (44) and Ankit Kumar (42) scored 63 runs in 4.3 overs for the first wicket. After this, Ayush Dosa (26) and Mayank Gusain (27) played a good innings, but they could not reach the team to victory.

Arpit Rana became the player of the match

Earlier, East Delhi Riders scored 158 runs while batting first. Opener Arpit Rana had scorched 71 runs in 47 balls, in which he hit 3 sixes and 7 fours. After this, Hardik Sharma also played a brilliant century, he scored 50 runs in 37 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 2 fours. Arpit Rana was adjudged the Player of the Match.

East Delhi topped DPL 2025 points table

The East Delhi Riders are at number one after the matches on Sunday, August 10 in the Delhi Premier League. The team has won 4 out of 6 matches and 1 has lost, they have 9 points. This was the second defeat of West Delhi Lions, he has won 2 out of 4 matches and has 4 points. With 7 points, Central Delhi Kings ranks second and North Delhi Strikers are fourth with 4 points.

Old Delhi 6 with 4 points at number 5 and Outer Delhi Warriors is at number six with 3 points. New Delhi Tigers with 2 points at number 7 and South Delhi Superstar at number 8 in the last. South Delhi has not won any match yet, they have lost 3 out of 4 matches.
