Dr Farooq Abdullah on Removal of Martyrs Day from Official Calendar in Jammu & Kashmir Ann

Jammu & kashmir politics: National Conference (NC) President and MP Dr. Farooq Abdullah expressed serious concern over the increasing isolation between the Raj Bhavan and the democratically elected government and said that this is causing a furore on the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He also expressed deep disappointment even after being excluded from the official calendar of the Union Territory of the Union Territory.

Talking to journalists, Dr. Abdullah described the clear differences between Raj Bhavan and the civil government machinery as unwell for democracy and urged the authorities to maintain the constitutional values ​​and the spirit of federalism.

On July 13, on the issue of Martyr’s Day, Dr. Abdullah said that this day holds a deep historical and emotional significance for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, which in 1931, fighting the autocratic rule and demanding justice, remembers those who sacrificed their lives.

He criticized the government’s decision to remove this day from the list of official holidays and described it as an attempt to eradicate history and disregard public sentiments.

Dr. Abdullah said, “You cannot remove the date from the calendar and write history again. The blood of our martyrs still flows into the consciousness of our people. 13 July is not just a day of memory, it reminds us of our collective struggle for rights, respect and self -respect”.

He urged the Lieutenant Governor administration to restore the martyr’s day at the right place in the official calendar and honor the historical heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr. Abdullah reiterated the commitment of the National Conference to protect the democratic rights and identity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and called for unity and peaceful struggle to maintain the unique political and cultural heritage of the region.
