Drdo bangalore lab: After Operation Sindoor in 2025, India has given top priority to self -reliance in its defense sector. The central government made it clear that India will not only make weapons for itself, but will also sell them worldwide. The recent DRDO Bengaluru lab tour of Dr. PK Mishra, Principal Secretary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi indicates both seriousness and boom in this direction. This lab mainly works on radar and electronic warfare technology.

The central government has so far removed more than 400 weapons and equipment from the import list. It simply means that now they will be made in India and will be used by the army. The major projects that came out after Dr. Mishra’s visit are going to take India’s defense policy to a new height.

Hypersonic Hitters Brahmoos‑ii missile
The Brahmoos‑ii missile system is India’s most ambitious project. Its range will be 1500 km and its speed will be eight times faster than the sound. It can be launched from land, sea and air all three platforms. Along with this, Long Range Anti-Ship Missile Project is also going on, whose range will be more than 1,000 km. It is being prepared to eliminate enemy warships.

Nextzen Air Superiority Amca Stealth Fighter
India’s first fifth generation stealth fighter is being developed jointly by Jet AMCA, DRDO and HAL. Its first flight is possible by 2026 and serial production till 2032–33. This fighter jet will have supercruise capacity, stealth technology, internal weapon bay and advanced avionics.

Multi-layer air defense system project kusha
Project Kusha is a very important project for India. This system can intercept ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, fighter jets and drones in the range of 150 to 400 km. DRDO is developing it in India with capabilities like S-400. Its operation is expected to start by 2028.

Shiner missile system vshorads
This indigenous missile system is being prepared on such a large scale for the first time in India. Its range is about 6 kilometers and has an advanced infrared Sikar. The army has demanded 5,000 units of it, which can include it in India’s Defense Export Products.

Smart Prince Weaps Rudram ‑2 and Rudram ‑3
Rudram ‑2 and Rudram ‑3 missiles will target enemy radar, air defense system and communication centers. The range of Rudram ‑2 will be 250-300 km and Rudram ‑3 range will be more than 550 km.

India’s new strength in electronic warfare
The Claws laser system will be India’s first Directed Energy Weapon system. Its purpose is to eliminate dangers like drones, micro missiles, and mortar in the air itself.

DRDO stuck projects and their challenges
Technical or administrative screws are still stuck in some projects in India. It includes many types of things, which are as follows.

  • GTX‑35 Cauvery Engine: The engine for AMCA is currently undergoing talks with the French Safran company.
  • Aesar radar ‘Uttam’: The production capacity is still stuck on 24 units/year.
  • Light Tank Zorawar: Cost is increasing due to engine import dependence.
  • AI based tank: There is a delay in sensor-fusion software.
