In today’s time, drones are no longer just a part of weddings or film shooting. The need for drones is increasing rapidly in many areas like farming, police surveillance, delivery service, rescue operations and survey. First of all understand what is drone pilot certificate. This is a government certificate which is issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation i.e. DGCA. This certificate proves that you are trained and legally permitted to fly drones. The Government of India had implemented drone rules in 2021, under which flying a drone without a certificate has been considered illegal.

What is the eligibility?

To become a drone pilot, the age of the candidate should be minimum 18 years and maximum 65 years. The minimum qualification for education has been kept at 10th pass. Also the person should be physically and mentally fit. Aadhar card, mobile number and email ID are also necessary for the application so that all the official information can be found there.

How to get certificate

For certificate, first of all one has to go to DGCA website and choose a recognized training center. There are many renowned institutes in India such as IGRUA, Drone Destination, Skylark Drones and Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, which provide drone pilot training.

The training duration is usually 5 to 7 days. There are both theory and practical classes in it. In the training, subjects like rules of flying drones, air safety, weather conditions, navigation, mapping and data analysis are taught. After completing the course, an online test is conducted by DGCA. After passing this test, drone pilot certificate can be downloaded by visiting DGCA’s website “Digital Sky Platform”.
