Ducati scrambler 1100 discontinued: Due to new emission norms in the Indian market, the journey of some bikes is ending. Now the name of Ducati Scramble 1100 has also been added to this list. The company has removed it from its official website.
It is believed that the reason for this is the old engine and strict Euro 5+ emission norms. Ducati launched the Scrambler 1100 in 2018, which came a year after the Scrambler 800. After being in sales for about 8 years, the company has now closed it.
Why Scrambler 1100 closed from India?
There were many important reasons behind the closure of Ducati Scrambler 1100 in India. The first reason is that the 1079cc L-Twin engine used in it was no longer in line with Euro 5+ or OBD-2B emission standards. The engine was originally designed for Hypermotard and Monster 1100 in 2009 and later retaliated to Scrambler.
Engine update expensive deal
The second big reason is that upgrading this old engine according to new emission standards would have been a very expensive deal. Because this requires a large scale technical changes and investment, which was not commercially beneficial for this already low -selling model.
Expensive price
The third reason is its high price. The ex-showroom price of Ducati Scrambler 1100 was between 13.40 lakh to 16 lakh rupees, which used to make it a Nish Market Product. In this price, many such options were available to customers which were equipped with more powerful and modern features.
Technical features of Ducati Scrambler 1100
Technically, Scrambler 1100 had a 1079cc oil-cooled L-Twin engine, 86hp power and 88Nm torque, which came with a 6-speed slipper clutch gearbox. Modern features like ride-by-wire technology, riding modes and safety assist systems were also given in it. However, this bike was known as a lifestyle scrambler in its segment and had a separate class attraction about its design and performance, but high price and limited appeal impacted its sales.
Effect on sales and market reaction
Talking about sales, Ducati launched Scrambler 1100 in India in 2018, but till 2023-24 its demand was reduced to very low. Conversely, the scrambler 800 series was liking more customers because she was more economical and also supported new emission standards. This is the reason that Scrambler 800 is still available in Ducati’s Indian portfolio.
Will Scrambler 1100 return to the future?
Talking about the future, Ducati has not yet introduced any new engine or updated model for Scrambler 1100 which can live up to Euro 5+ standards. However, given the company’s activeness and technological innovation in the company’s global markets, it can be expected that in the coming time a new model should be brought instead of Scrambler 1100. The possibility is also being expressed that Ducati can now limit its scrambler lineup to 803cc engine and will focus on lightweight, modern versions in the future.
