RCB Victory Parade Stampede: Many people died in a stampede during the RCB’s Victory Parade outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. On this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief on Wednesday (June 04, 2025). So far at least 11 people have died and many others have been injured in the accident.
On the social media platform X, he wrote, “The accident in Bengaluru is very sad. In this sad hour, my condolences are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those who have been injured should be healthy soon.”
A stampede occurred outside the entry gate
Thousands of fans thronged outside the stadium to get a glimpse of the team, which could not be controlled by the police. For this, light force also had to be used. These fans fell victim to a stampede outside the entry gate in an attempt to enter the stadium. The seriously injured are being treated at Vaidehi Hospital and Bovering Hospital and the number of dead is expected to increase.
What did BCCI say on the incident?
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar said, “The crowd became uncontrolled and it was difficult for the police to stop the procession.” The BCCI said that RCB’s IPL victory should have been planned to be better. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said, “Adequate precaution should have been taken to organize this level of victory and to keep in mind the security measures. Somewhere there has been a lapse somewhere.
Earlier, when the team reached Bangalore on Wednesday afternoon, a large number of fans standing on both sides on the road outside the airport greeted him warmly. The fans were standing in the streets to get a glimpse of the team players with Virat Kohli.
