Let us tell you that e-cigarette or electronic cigarette is a battery-operated device, which produces vapor instead of smoke. It is designed in such a way that it looks and feels like a traditional cigarette.

E-cigarettes do not contain tobacco, rather nicotine liquid, flavors and other chemicals are used in it.

E-cigarettes contain a heating element, which heats the liquid containing nicotine. After this, a smoke-like vapor is produced, which the user inhales. This is called vaping.

There are many varieties of e-cigarettes, such as pen-shaped, USB stick-like devices, or pod-based devices. People buy and use it as per their need.

In normal cigarettes, tobacco burns and the tar, carbon monoxide and thousands of harmful chemicals present in it go into the lungs, whereas in e-cigarettes, tobacco does not burn. For this reason it is considered a safe option in the beginning.

However, this does not at all mean that it is completely safe. Organizations like WHO and American Heart Association have refused to accept e-cigarettes as completely safe.

Many countries including India have banned the sale and advertisement of e-cigarettes. The government says that this is a big threat to public health and can push the young generation towards drug addiction.
