persistent swelling in the eyes
Sometimes the eyes become swollen due to waking up late at night or eating too much salt, but if the swelling persists throughout the day then it can be a sign of protein leaking in the kidneys. When the kidneys are unable to filter the protein, the same protein starts coming out of the body in the urine and its effect is seen in the form of swelling around the eyes. If urine appears frothy or foamy along with swelling, get it checked by a doctor immediately.
blurred or double vision
Sudden blurring of vision or double vision can be a sign of damage to the small nerves of the retina. High BP and diabetes, the two biggest causes of kidney failure, also damage the nerves of the retina. Fluid accumulation, swelling of the retina, or in severe cases, vision loss may also occur. dryness, irritation, or roughness in the eyes
Frequent dry eyes or stinging sensation is not just the effect of weather or screen time. Dry eyes are a common complaint in patients with advanced kidney disease or undergoing dialysis. Calcium-phosphorus imbalance, or accumulation of toxins in the body leads to reduced tear production. If the eyes remain red, dry or stinging without any reason, then it is necessary to get a kidney test done.
