Earth shook due to severe earthquake early in the morning, tremors of 6.2 magnitude, people ran away from their homes.

An earthquake of 6.2 magnitude occurred in the western part of Japan on Tuesday. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said that the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the eastern region of Shimane Prefecture. At present, no immediate information about loss of life or property has been received. The administration is keeping an eye on the situation.

no danger of tsunami
The Japan Meteorological Agency said that no tsunami warning was issued immediately after the earthquake. The administration has appealed to the people not to pay attention to rumors and keep an eye on official information.

Different estimates regarding the intensity of the earthquake
While the Japan Meteorological Agency has reported the earthquake’s intensity as 6.2, the US Geological Survey (USGS) has recorded its intensity as slightly less, i.e. 5.8. There is a slight difference in the estimates of both the agencies regarding the earthquake data.

Military forces started aerial survey
Japan’s Defense Ministry has said that aerial inspections are being conducted by military aircraft to assess possible damage. At present no major loss has been confirmed.

Strong tremors felt in Yasugi city
The earthquake in Yasugi city of Shimane Prefecture was recorded as upper level 5 on Japan’s Shindo scale. At this stage, unsecured furniture may fall and drivers may have difficulty controlling the vehicle. After the earthquake, local administration and disaster management agencies have become alert. People have been asked to remain alert and prepared for any emergency.
