Earthquake in manipur today: On Wednesday (May 28, 2025) in Manipur, two tremors were felt. The intensity of the earthquake on the Richter scale was measured 2.5 and 5.2. People came out of their homes after the earthquake felt the tremors.
According to the National Center for Sisamology (NCS), on 28 May 2025, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in Churachandpur district of Manipur at 1:54 am (Indian time). The epicenter of this earthquake was 24.46 northern latitude and 93.70 Eastern longitude, which was 40 km in depth. Shortly after this, earthquake tremors were felt in Manipur for the second time.
No news of loss of life and property
According to the National Center for Sisamology (NCS), a light earthquake of 2.5 magnitude occurred in Noni district of Manipur at 2:26 am (Indian time). The epicenter of this earthquake was 24.53 northern latitudes in Noni district and 93.50 Eastern longitude, which was 25 km in depth. However, there has been no news of loss of life and property due to this earthquake. But, due to earthquake twice in a row, people came into panic in Manipur and they came out of the houses.
Earthquake occurred in Manipur on 8 May
Earlier, a 3.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in Chandel district of Manipur on 8 May 2025 at 10:11 pm (Indian time). According to the National Center for Sisamology, the earthquake was at 24.19 northern latitude and 93.96 Eastern longitude, which was 10 km in depth. The earthquake was of mild intensity and it was felt in local areas, but no news of any major damage or loss of life and property was recorded. On October 4, earthquake tremors were felt in the Manipur-Nagaland border area. Officials had said that the intensity of the earthquake on the Richter scale has been measured 3.6.
