A big news has come out for the students preparing for admission in IIT, NIT and other top engineering colleges. Many state boards including CBSE have released the top-20 percentile points. This Persenty List is very important for students who want to get admission in institutions like IIIT, NIT and GFTI through JEE Main.

Top -20 percentile means – the minimum score of students scoring the top 20% of a board. That is, if a student brings above this score in the board examination, then it will be considered eligible for admission in NIT or other institutions through JEE. Suppose the cutoff of the top-20 percentile in a board is 436, then the student of that board will have to score at least 436 marks, only then he will be eligible to admission in institutions like NIT, IIIT.

Which state board cutoff is the most?
The Andhra Pradesh Board is at the forefront this year. Here in 2025, the top-20 percentile score is 475 points, which shows an increase of 28 points over the previous year.

NTA means National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main exam every year. In this, the students who qualify, have to complete the top-20 percent score of the board for admission in NIT and IIIT. If a student comes from the general category and has not secured 75% marks, he can complete the eligibility with the help of Top-20 percent.

Know the top-20 percent cut off of major boards

The score for 2025 in Andhra Pradesh was 475 and 2024 was 447. Telangana scored 436 in 2025 and 410 in 2024. The score of 2025 in Tamil Nadu was 419 and 422 last year. Karnataka’s score was 424 in both years, while in Rajasthan scored 436 in 2025 and 434 in 2024. It is clear from these data that the top-20 percent score of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rajasthan Board is much higher than other states.

Students who want to enroll in NIT or IIIT through JEE Main this year, they must check the top-20 percent score of their board. If your digits are above this cutoff, then you can be ready for further process. Apart from this, students with lower marks than score can focus on improvement exam or better preparation for next time.
