What is Economic Survey?
Economic Survey is an annual report prepared by the Finance Ministry. Economic Survey is released before the budget. It contains details of the current financial year’s GDP growth, employment, export-import, fiscal position and condition of different sectors. On this basis, the direction of the budget and the roadmap of the schemes is prepared.
When was the Economic Survey started?
The Economic Survey was started in the year 1950-51 and at that time it was presented along with the budget. Later, from the year 1964 it was separated from the budget. Its purpose was that even before the budget comes, MPs and common people can get correct information about the economic situation of the country, so that they can understand the budget in a better way.
