ED’s big action against Jaypee Group, assets worth Rs 400 crore attached

ED Action on Jaypee Group: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has taken major action against Jaypee Group. ED’s Delhi zonal office said in an official statement on Wednesday that immovable properties worth about Rs 400 crore have been temporarily attached under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 in connection with the money laundering investigation against Jaypee Group.

The attached properties belong to Jaiprakash Seva Sansthan and Page 3 Buildtech Pvt. Ltd. This action is part of the ongoing investigation into large-scale alleged fraud and diversion of funds by Jaypee Infratech Limited (JIL), Jaiprakash Associates Limited (JAL) and their related companies related to Jaypee Vistown and Jaypee Greens housing projects.

What is the allegation?

ED started this investigation on the basis of several FIRs registered by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Police on complaints of home buyers. The FIR charges JIL, JAL and their promoters and directors, including Manoj Gaur, with criminal conspiracy, cheating and criminal breach of trust.

The allegation against them is that they took money from flat buyers in the name of building houses, but that money was not used to complete the project but was used elsewhere. Due to this, projects remained incomplete and people suffered losses worth lakhs of crores.

ED’s investigation revealed that Jaiprakash Associates and Jaip Infratech took around Rs 14599 crore from more than 25000 home buyers. A large portion of these funds were used for purposes other than construction and were transferred to other group companies such as Jaypee Seva Sansthan (JSS), Jaypee Healthcare Limited (JHL), and Jaypee Sports International Limited (JSIL).

These things were also revealed in the investigation

The ED also found that Manoj Gaur, managing trustee of Jaypee Seva Sansthan, was the main beneficiary of the diverted funds. That means they received the money sent to JSS. The investigation also revealed the transfer of assets of JIL and JAL to other companies like Page 3 Buildtech Private Limited, which is allegedly controlled and owned by Honey Katiyal.

Earlier, on May 23, 2025, ED had raided the offices and premises of JAL and JIL at 15 places in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Mumbai. During this period, the agency had seized a large amount of financial and digital records and documents which revealed money laundering and fund diversion.
