On the previous day, the government took strict action on 25 apps showing pornographic content and banned them. The banned apps also include the name of Altt which was the first Alt Balaji. Whose founder was Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor. At the same time, TV and filmmaker Ekta Kapoor has given a strong reaction to the news that his OTT platform Altt has been banned by the Government of India for streaming ‘pornographic content’.
In a statement released on the official handle of his production house, Kapoor released a clearance and said that he and his mother Shobha Kapoor have nothing to do with the banned app Alt.

Ekta Kapoor said in her statement, “Balaji Telefilms Limited, Listed in BSE and NSE, is a professional run -up media organization and recently after approval by Honorable NCLT of ALT Digital Media Entertainment Limited (first its full -owned subsidiary) (earlier its full -owned subsidiary), it operates on 20 June, 2025 to ALTT.”
Ekta says that neither she nor Shobha are associated with Altt
Ekta has cleared further in her statement that neither she nor Shobha Kapoor is associated with Altt. He wrote, “There are reports in the media that ALTT has been banned by the authorities, however, unlike such reports, Ekta Kapoor and Mrs. Shobha Kapoor are not in any way associated with Altt and they had broken their relationship with Altt in June 2021 itself.” He has requested the media to check the facts before presenting the news.
The lanth of the statement said, “Balaji Telefilms Limited fully follows all the applicable laws and keeps operating his business with the highest standard of corporate administration.”
