Top business leaders, tech industry veterans and big faces of the American administration were present in this building, considered the center of American politics. Ronaldo was given a very special place in the East Room, from where he heard US President Donald Trump, MBS, Apple’s Tim Cook and Tesla’s Elon Musk addressing him.
During the banquet, Donald Trump suddenly took Ronaldo’s name and narrated a light anecdote, which transformed the entire hall into a pleasant atmosphere. He said that when I introduced my son Baron to Ronaldo, my respect in the house increased further.”
Ronaldo’s association with Saudi club Al-Nassr is not limited to football only. After joining the club in December 2022, he has become the biggest international face of the Saudi Football League. His contract of approximately $200 million per year is still included among the most expensive deals in the world.
In June 2025, Ronaldo extended his agreement with the club for two more years. Al-Nassr is operated by the Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund, headed by MBS himself. For this reason, his presence in the White House reflects a unique combination of sports and diplomacy.
This trip also became special because Ronaldo was rarely seen in public events in America for the last several years. Allegations made by a woman in 2009, which were later quelled after a financial settlement.
