The test was done on 27 May 2025 from the Starbase in Texas. For the first time in this mission, Super Heavy Booster was re -used, which was also flown earlier in January. After the launch, the rocket caught a speed of 26,316 mph and entered the Earth’s orbit. However, the satellites could not be deployed due to the jam of the payload door and the rocket lost control, killing it to fall into the Indian Ocean.
Videos and photos of the incident are being shared on social media on a large scale, in which the visuals of the rocket fall and the explosion can be clearly seen.
The purpose of this mission was to test starship’s re-use capacity and satellite deployment process. However, this test was not completely successful, but according to Spacex, it has received significant data that will be used in future missions. Elon Musk has announced that the company will now launch a new Test every three to four weeks to improve the reliability of starships.
Spacex’s Starship-Super Heavy System is being developed for human missions on Moon and Mars in future. However, recent failures have exposed the challenges of this project. Nevertheless, under the company’s strategy of “rapid test and improvement”, these failures are seen as an opportunity to learn.
