Can Women With Endometriosis Get Pregnant: Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue like the inner lining of the uterus starts growing in other parts of the body. This disease often silently affects the fertility of women and sometimes becomes a big challenge for couples who dream of becoming parents. Endometriosis can cause problems in conceiving, fertility treatment can be difficult and in some cases this condition can even prove fatal. This is the reason why for many women, in vitro fertilization becomes the most real option for pregnancy.
What is the matter?
According to a TOI report, one such case was reported of a 28-year-old woman, who was suffering from severe endometriosis and had not undergone any surgery before. Considering the seriousness of the disease, the doctors advised to undergo IVF. Like many couples, this woman and her husband had also hoped that after a long struggle, they would get good news. The woman underwent oocyte pick-up, a procedure to remove the ovum, and initially everything seemed normal.

But four days after the procedure, the woman started having high fever, which was not getting cured despite antibiotics, soon she started feeling symptoms like severe stomach pain, chills and weakness. After examination, it was found that a large abscess of about 10 to 12 centimeters, i.e. a lump filled with pus, had formed in her ovum. Not only this, the infection had spread inside the stomach and reached the liver. Now the matter had gone beyond fertility treatment to saving life and it became necessary to do surgery immediately.
How was the treatment done?
The surgery was performed under the leadership of Dr. Madhuri Vidyashankar at Motherhood Hospital, Bengaluru. During the operation, it was found that the pus had spread to many organs and due to infection the intestines had stuck to the ovum. The biggest challenge was that along with saving the life of the patient, his reproductive capacity should also be protected. Doctors carefully removed the abscess and cleared the infection and succeeded in preserving both ovums.
Maybe a rescue?
After several months, the woman became healthy again and was ready for the IVF process. This time the treatment was successful, she became pregnant and later gave birth to a healthy child. The journey of fertility is not easy in a disease like endometriosis, but with timely treatment and expert care, hope can be revived.
