On Tuesday (March 03, 2026), BJP announced the names of its candidates for two out of five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar. BJP national president Nitin Naveen and party leader Shivesh Ram will be the candidates. Whereas Upendra Kushwaha has been given a chance on one seat from NDA. Nitish Kumar’s party (JDU) will field candidates on two seats from its quota. The question is that when Upendra Kushwaha has four MLAs, he was given a chance, then why was Chirag’s party with 19 MLAs left behind?
Till a few days ago, it was being discussed that Chirag Paswan’s mother Reena Paswan can go to Rajya Sabha. However, when this news started circulating in the media, Chirag Paswan rejected it.

Union Minister Chirag Paswan had said in a conversation with the media, “Let me make it clear that my mother is not coming into politics. Do not make this a part of the debate at all. She (Reena Paswan) keeps herself away from active politics. She wants to keep herself away. I definitely believe that our NDA alliance will win five out of five seats. There is no doubt about it.”
Will support NDA candidate: LJP Ram Vilas
Now after the announcement of names of candidates for Rajya Sabha seats from BJP and RLM, the reaction of Chirag Paswan’s party has come. There is no resentment within Chirag Paswan’s party about not getting a seat. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) national spokesperson Rajesh Bhatt says that his party will support NDA candidates on all five Rajya Sabha seats from Bihar. Rajesh Bhatt said that all our MLAs will work to vote for the NDA candidate.
Let us tell you that one seat was considered fixed for Upendra Kushwaha. Earlier this statement had come from the party that even before the assembly elections (2025), it had been promised by BJP that one seat in Rajya Sabha would be given. Also one MLC seat will be given. Kushwaha’s son Deepak Prakash is a minister in the Bihar government. Will become MLC. Upendra Kushwaha is being sent to Rajya Sabha also because he was given much less seats in the assembly elections than Chirag.
