S. Jaishankar – India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, who is known for his outspoken and strategic diplomatic decisions, has been an alumnus of JNU. He obtained M.A. in Political Science, then M.Phil and PhD in International Relations. His subject was nuclear diplomacy. Today the same Jaishankar is counted among the strongest faces of India’s foreign policy.
Nirmala Sitharaman – The country’s first full-time woman Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is also an alumnus of JNU. He did M.A. in Economics from here. And did M.Phil. Today, she is not only giving direction to India’s financial policies, but has also become the face of India’s economic strength on global platforms.
Kanhaiya Kumar – As soon as the name of JNU is taken, another face comes to mind – Kanhaiya Kumar. Kanhaiya was once one of the popular faces of student politics and was also the student union president. He worked with the All India Students Council and the Communist Party of India (CPI). Sitaram Yechury – Senior leader of leftist politics Sitaram Yechury also did M.A. in Economics from JNU. Did. His political thinking and ideological strength were visible right from his JNU days.
Maneka Gandhi – Maneka Gandhi, associated with environment, animal rights and social service, studied German language from JNU. After coming into politics, he made himself a strong social face.
