Punjab Health Scheme: The Punjab government has decided to provide major health relief to the people of the state. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has approved the implementation of the Chief Minister Health Scheme from January 2026. Under this scheme, every family of Punjab will get free and cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh annually.
The government claims that this will directly benefit about three crore citizens. This decision is being considered as a major change in the direction of health safety in the state. Earlier the limit of treatment was Rs 5 lakh. Now it has been doubled. Who will get benefits under this scheme and which diseases will be covered? Know the complete news.
Which treatments will be covered up to Rs 10 lakh?
Under the Chief Minister Health Scheme, treatment facilities will be provided in empaneled government and private hospitals of Punjab and New Chandigarh. This will include treatment of serious diseases, major surgery, ICU and critical care. Apart from this, tests, medicines, pre-recruitment and post-recruitment expenses will also be covered under this cover. The entire process will be cashless and paperless.
This means that the patient will not need to take out money from his pocket during treatment. After identification and verification in the hospital, treatment can start. The aim of the government is that no family should have to postpone treatment just because of lack of money. With this system, the financial and mental pressure on patients and their families will be reduced to a great extent.

Who will get the benefit?
People of both village and city areas will get the benefit of Chief Minister Health Scheme. This scheme will be a big relief for those families who ignore the disease due to fear of expensive treatment or are forced to take loans. Now you will not have to worry about money regarding treatment. Earlier, a family used to get facility up to Rs 5 lakh, now it has been increased to Rs 10 lakh.
Government employees, pensioners and common citizens will all be able to avail the benefits of this scheme. That too without any income limit. The list of hospitals, treatment status and facility to register complaints will be available through the digital platform.
