F 22 Raptor Price: F 22 Raptor is considered to be one of the most advanced and expensive fighter aircraft ever made. This aircraft developed by Lockheed Martin for the United States Air Force is the best example of modern technology. Recently, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Israel, America has deployed F 22 Raptor jet in Israel. In the meantime, let us know how much this fighter jet costs and what is its specialty.
How much does the F 22 Raptor cost?
F 22 Raptor is the world’s most expensive operational fighter jet in terms of price. Flyaway costs, which include manufacturing and assembly, are approximately $150 million per aircraft. In Indian currency this amount becomes approximately Rs 1,245 crore. But when research, development testing and the cost of the entire program are included, the actual cost of each aircraft increases to between $334 million and $350 million. Apart from the cost of purchase, operating the aircraft is also quite expensive. The estimated operating cost is approximately $85,325 per flight hour.
Unmatched Stealth Technology
One of the biggest advantages of the F 22 Raptor is its stealth capability. The aircraft has been designed with special angles, materials and radar absorbing coating. This reduces its radar signature significantly. On enemy radar the F 22 appears as small as a marble. Because of this, it becomes very difficult to detect, track or target it.
supersonic speed
The F 22 Raptor can fly at supersonic speeds up to Mach 1.8 without using after burn. This capability helps it maintain high speed while saving fuel. This allows for faster response and longer mission endurance while increasing efficiency.
thrust vectoring technology
The engines of this aircraft use thrust vectoring technology. Due to this the engine nozzles can rotate in different directions. With this, this aircraft can make sharp turns, fast climb and advanced aerial maneuvers.
Along with this, advanced sensor fusion technology has also been used in it. It integrates information from multiple sensors, radar and surveillance systems into a single display for the pilot. This gives the pilot a complete idea of the situation and can detect threats as well as track enemy aircraft.
a powerful weapon
The F 22 Raptor is fitted with a 20mm M61A2 Vulcan cannon for close combat. It also has advanced air to air missiles like AIM-120 AMRAAM and AIM-9 Sidewinder inside the internal weapon bay.
Let us tell you that due to its highly classified technology, the United States has banned the export of F 22 Raptor. It is not sold even to close associates.
