National Democratic Alliance (NDA) -backed candidate CP Radhakrishnan has been elected as the new Vice President of India. He gave India Alliance -backed candidate B.K. Sudarshan Reddy won by leaving behind the election. The whole family including his mother is very happy at this historic moment. His mother Janaki Ammal said that he had named his son in honor of former President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
’62 year old prediction also came true ‘
Janki Ammal, mother of CP Radhakrishnan, expressed happiness that when her son was born, the then President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, was in the post of Radhakrishnan and she herself was also a teacher. He named his son in memory of the former President. He told the news agency ANI, “My husband jokingly said that this name is kept so that our son also reached the highest position of the country.” Today, 62 years later, this dream came true. Janaki Ammal called it a proud moment of his life.
Vice President’s brother expressed pride
CP Kumresh, brother of newly elected Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, said that it is a matter of pride for the family. He said, “It is a matter of great pleasure that Radhakrishnan will take over the responsibility of operating the Rajya Sabha. We are confident that he will play this role efficiently and maintain Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trust.” Kumresh also thanked the entire countrymen on behalf of the family.
India Alliance voters also got support
In the Vice Presidential election, CP Radhakrishnan won by a decisive majority. He got support from NDA MPs as well as parts of opposition. He received a total of 452 first preference votes, while Justice B.K. Sudarshan Reddy got 300 votes. Apart from this, 15 votes were declared illegal. Thus, Radhakrishnan defeated the India Block candidate by a margin of 152 votes.
