The new peace proposal prepared by America to end the war that has been going on for almost three years between Russia and Ukraine has created a big stir at the international level. Differences regarding this proposal are deepening in America, Ukraine and many countries of Europe. US President Donald Trump made it clear on Saturday that this is not his final offer, but its deadline will remain November 27. Trump also said that if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky does not accept this proposal, Ukraine will have to be prepared to continue the war. Despite this, he indicated that America wants to find a solution to this conflict at any cost.
This proposal became a cause of controversy
This proposal has become a cause of controversy even within America. Republican Senator Mike Rounds claimed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio told some senators that this 28-point draft looks like a Russian-sword document. This allegation indicates that Russia’s interests may be more reflected in the proposal. However, the US State Department has not yet made any official comment on these claims, due to which the situation remains more unclear.
What did the leaked parts of the draft reveal?
Leaked parts of the draft show that the resolution demands Ukraine to withdraw from parts of Donetsk. Also, this draft seems to indirectly accept Russian-controlled Donetsk, Luhansk and Crimea. Apart from this, it has been advised to keep the existing fronts of Kherson and Zaporizhia stable. A major controversial point of the proposal is that it has been said that the maximum capacity of the Ukrainian army will be limited to 6 lakh soldiers. European countries argue that this border could make it easier for Russia to attack in the future.
What did the G20 countries say?
Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Britain and other countries included in the G20 countries said in their joint statement that the American draft is definitely a basis, but major improvements need to be made in it. He says that the borders of any country cannot be changed by force and Ukraine’s security should be the top priority in any agreement.
President Zelensky said this big thing
Amidst all these developments, Ukrainian President Zelensky issued an emotional message saying that the country is standing in the most difficult period of its history. He warned that Ukraine may soon have to decide between difficult choices like saving face or losing an important partner. Along with this, he appointed his Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak as the head of the peace talks team and said that the Ukrainian delegation is fully prepared to protect the dignity and security of the country.
Security advisors of many countries will meet
To improve this proposal, top security advisors of America, Britain, France, Germany and Ukraine will meet in Geneva on Sunday. This meeting is being considered important towards a possible way to end the war. Here, Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a statement that the American proposal can become the basis for negotiations, but Russia is also ready to continue military action. Meanwhile, US State Department deputy spokesperson Tommy Pigott has said that this plan has been prepared by America and it includes inputs from both Russia and Ukraine.
