Chhattisgarh’s years old dream has come true today. With the construction of Chitrotpala Film City and Tribal and Cultural Convention Centre, Chhattisgarh will get a new identity in the country and the world in the field of film production. Through this ambitious initiative, Chhattisgarh will not only move towards becoming a major center of film production and cultural events, but this project will also provide a new impetus to the creative economy of the state. The construction of Chitrotpala Film City and Tribal and Cultural Convention Center will provide a national and international platform to local talents, create new investment opportunities and strengthen the cultural identity of Chhattisgarh at the global level. This project will open new doors of development for the youth, artists and tourism sector of the state in the coming years. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said this today while addressing the Bhoomi Pujan program of Chitrotpala Film City and Tribal and Cultural Convention Center in village Mana-Tuta of the capital Raipur.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai laid the foundation stone for the construction of Chitrotpala Film City and Tribal and Cultural Convention Center with Vedic mantras and ritual worship. On this historic occasion, he congratulated and congratulated the people of the state, film artists, producers and directors.
Chief Minister Sai said that today is a very important day for the people associated with the acting and art world of the state. Thousands of skilled artists of the state will get an opportunity to showcase their talent through Chitrotpala Film City. All technical facilities related to film production will be available to local filmmakers at one place. Expressing his gratitude for the support received from the Central Government for the Film City and Tribal and Cultural Convention Centre, he said that under the double engine government, the art and artists of the state are getting due respect.
Along with Bhoomi Pujan, the Chief Minister expressed happiness over the department receiving four proposals related to film production and convention center. He said that this will give a new impetus to the film production activities in the state and the topics related to cultural and social concerns of Chhattisgarh will get a place on the big screen.
Culture and Tourism Minister Rajesh Aggarwal said that today’s occasion is very important for Chhattisgarh tourism and film development industry. This is not just the beginning of a construction project, but a strong foundation for the cultural, economic and creative future of the state. He said that Chhattisgarh is a state full of natural beauty and cultural diversity and this initiative will give a new dimension to tourism as well as the film industry. In the last few years, Chhattisgarh has emerged as a favorite destination for filmmakers. We have a clear plan that these projects will be completed and dedicated to the state within the next two years.
On this occasion, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, MP Brijmohan Agarwal, MLA Anuj Sharma, MLA Inder Kumar Sahu, Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation Chairman Su Mona Sen, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Chairman Neelu Sharma, District Panchayat Chairman Naveen Agarwal and Tourism Department Secretary Dr. Rohit Yadav were present.
Chief Minister reviewed the proposed master plan of Film City
On the occasion of Bhoomi Pujan of Chitrotpala Film City and Tribal and Cultural Convention Centre, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai reviewed the proposed master plan of the project. He received important information related to the construction from the officials and also watched a short film based on the project.
Tourism Department received 4 proposals on the occasion of Bhoomi Pujan of Chitrotpala Film City.
Along with the Bhoomi Pujan of Chitrotpala Film City, the Tourism Department has received four proposals for setting up units in the film production and convention centre. These proposals were handed over to the Chief Minister during the ceremony.
Gadar film producer Anil Sharma proposed to produce his upcoming film in Chitrotpala Film City. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman of India Exposition Mart Limited, presented the proposal for construction of International Exhibition Center and Trade Mart in Tribal and Cultural Convention Centre. Neeraj Khanna, Chairman of Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, proposed to organize a World Class Handicrafts and Gift Fair here. Ashutosh Vajpayee from AT Films Hollywood submitted a proposal to the Chief Minister to bring Hollywood films and streaming video content to Chitrotpala Film City.
It is noteworthy that keeping in mind the vast potential of film tourism in the state, both these projects have been approved under the “Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment – Development of Global Level Iconic Tourism Centers” scheme of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Under this scheme, Rs 95.79 crore has been approved for the construction of Chitrotpala Film City and Rs 52.03 crore has been approved for the construction of Tribal and Cultural Convention Centre. Both these projects will be implemented under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model. Apart from this, there is also a possibility of investment of about Rs 300 crore from the private sector. A target has been set to complete the projects in a time period of two years.
Chitrotpala Film City and Tribal and Cultural Convention Center will be developed in an area of about 100 acres. The construction of Film City will encourage the production of local and other commercial films and web series in Chhattisgarh. The natural scenery, tourist places and rich culture of the state are extremely suitable for film shooting.
In the film city, sets of villages, cities and streets, airport, railway station, jail and police post, school-college, temples and other public places, sculpture gardens, shopping streets, production offices, studios, administrative buildings and parking will be developed. Besides, facilities like toy museum, snow world, hotel, restaurant, multiplex and experience center will also be available for tourists. A modern convention hall with a capacity of about 1500 people will be developed in the Tribal and Cultural Convention Centre, which will have facilities like meeting, conference, banquet, restaurant, guest room, gym, library, swimming pool and administrative block.
Film shooting, festivals and new employment opportunities
It is noteworthy that in recent years, films and web series like Newton, Jehanabad, Kaun Praveen Tambe, The Great Indian Murder, Gram Chikitsalay have been shot in Chhattisgarh, which clearly shows the wide possibilities of commercial film production in the state. With the completion of these projects, local artists and technicians will get new opportunities. Possibilities of organizing film festivals, award shows and other entertainment programs will also be strengthened. Along with this, the tourist places of the state will be promoted at the national and international level and along with film tourism, general tourism will also increase significantly.
