Firing case at Rohit Shetty’s house: MCOCA imposed on 5 accused, custody extended till 17 February

Mumbai Police has taken a big step in the firing incident outside the house of filmmaker Rohit Shetty. Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) has been imposed on the five accused arrested in this case. After the police custody of the five accused ended on Wednesday, they were presented in the special MCOCA court. The court has sent all the five accused to police custody till 17 February.

Mumbai Crime Branch had demanded 15 days police custody of these accused, but the Special Court refused to give such long custody. Order has been given to send him to police custody only for the period till 17th February.

The police had already arrested five people in this case. These accused are accused of firing outside Rohit Shetty’s house. After the incident, the police formed 12 teams. At the same time, Mumbai Crime Branch immediately started investigation and took these five into custody within a few days.

There have been many revelations in the initial investigation, after which the police decided to impose MCOCA. MCOCA is a strict law, which is used in cases like organized crime, gang war and extortion. Under this law, the accused does not get bail easily and the police get more powers during the investigation.

‘Something big has to be done in Mumbai’

At the same time, Mumbai Crime Branch has made a big revelation in the investigation of the firing case at Rohit Shetty’s house. The absconding accused Shubham Lonkar was planning to spread terror in Mumbai. He had told the arrested accused that ‘something big has to be done in Mumbai.’

Apart from this, Shubham had given three weapons to his brother Praveen Lonkar. Praveen delivered these weapons to the arrested accused involved in the Rohit Shetty firing case. Now the police will take Praveen Lonkar into custody and interrogate him thoroughly. Police say that this conspiracy could be bigger. Raids and surveillance have been intensified to arrest absconding Shubham Lonkar soon.
