According to the Ministry of External Affairs, both the countries reviewed the progress made so far on issues like investment, security, science-technology, education and cooperation against terrorism and called it a good step. He also described the preparations being made on the joint strategic plan for 2025-29 as positive, which will benefit both the countries.

Meloni extended full support to the AI ​​summit to be held in India in 2026. According to data, India-Italy trade can reach around $15 billion in 2023-24. At the same time, since 2000 till now Italy has invested about 4 billion dollars in India.

Italian Prime Minister Meloni also posted pictures of the first session of the G-20 on social media, in which she is seen with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and Prime Minister Modi. These pictures quickly went viral.

The friendship between PM Modi and Meloni has been in the news for some time.

Earlier, both had met at the G-7 conference in Canada in June 2025 and at COP28 held in Dubai in December last year.

While posting a selfie with PM Modi at COP28, Meloni wrote – “Good friends at COP28.”
